Dragon Boat Temple
Introduction
The Dragon Boat Temple is a historical monument commemorating the friendly relations between Thailand and China. Thailand established mutually beneficial and amicable trade relations with China at a very early stage. King Rama III once commissioned royal artisans to build a model of a royal trading ship on the eastern bank of the Chao Phraya River as a keepsake. The model of the trading ship is a building made of steel-reinforced concrete. Its shape, size, and color tone all follow the standards of the wooden “red-head ships” of that time. Near the model of the trading ship, there is a Buddhist temple called the Dragon Boat Temple.
