Soesokkak Estuary

Soesokkak Estuary is located in Haecho-dong, Seogwipo, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, South Korea. It was originally named Soedun because it resembled the shape of a lying cow. Later, when freshwater from the Haedun Stream met the seawater, it formed a deep pool, leading to its renaming as Soesokkak, where “soe” means cow, “so” refers to a pool, and “kkak” denotes an end or mouth.

Soesokkak Estuary is one of the most mysterious spots among the Seventy Ri area of Seogwipo City. Towering oddly-shaped rocks rise amid lush pine trees, creating a stunning landscape. Additionally, there is a small, flat float called “Tewoo” at this site. Visitors can pull ropes to glide across the crystal-clear waters while admiring various uniquely shaped rocks and exploring the picturesque corners of the Soesokkak Valley. Moreover, Haecho-dong, where the Soesokkak Valley is situated, lies to the south of Hallasan Mountain and is an important citrus-producing area of Jeju. During harvest season, the aroma of oranges fills every corner of the village. Nearby attractions include Hyeopjae Beach and Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, which can also be visited together.
