Cherry blossom viewing & hiking – Jeju is buzzing in March as sightseeing buses kick off

Jeju is the earliest place in Korea where you can enjoy cherry blossoms, with the typical blooming season running from late March to early April. In addition, local sightseeing buses also begin operating in Jeju from March, with routes passing through Jeju Starlight Park, Halla Ecological Forest, Siryeong-I Forest Road, Gyorye Intersection, Stone Culture Park, Suseok Natural Forest, Jeju Roe Deer Eco Park, Jeju 4·3 Peace Park, Jeju National Museum, Dongmun Market, Gwandeokjeong Pavilion, Seomun Market, Dragon Head Rock, the Intercity Bus Terminal, Jeju City Hall, International Ferry Terminal, Coastal Ferry Terminal, and Incheon International Airport, among others. The full loop takes about 95 minutes, and a one-day pass costs 5,000 KRW (approximately NT$142), which can be used unlimited times on the day—perfect for independent travelers to plan their itineraries around cherry blossom routes.

The unique Jeju variety, the King Cherry, only takes 2–3 days to fully bloom. Famous cherry blossom viewing spots include Dianong Road and Wuchang River in Jeonwon-ri in Jeju City, historic sites related to resistance against Japanese rule, and areas near Jeju National University. The latest blooming cherry blossoms on Jeju can be found along the mountain paths of Mt. Hallasan, where you can still enjoy the beautiful sight of cherry blossoms until the second week of April.

Another major event in Jeju in March is the Seogwipo Rapeseed Flower International Hiking Festival, held from March 30 to April 1. The event takes place in areas such as Jeju Sculpture Park, Sanbangsan Mountain, Dragon Head Coast, and Songak Mountain in Seogwipo City. In addition to admiring Jeju’s stunning and enchanting rapeseed flowers, visitors can also leisurely enjoy the pleasure of hiking. On March 31, there will be activities for beginners and families, while on April 1, activities are more suitable for advanced hikers. For more information, you can apply at culture.jeju.go.kr.
