Korea’s earliest spring destination: Top 3 cherry blossom spots in Jeju Island

March is the season of blooming flowers, and Jeju Island is the first place in Korea to welcome spring. At the end of winter, rapeseed flower fields appear first, followed by cherry blossoms from March to mid-April. The yellow and pink blossoms bloom together, making it the most beautiful season on the island.

Vast stretches of bright yellow spread out like a velvet carpet, alongside winding roads. Whether walking or cycling here, it feels like a delightful experience in a painting. Jeju’s rapeseed flowers usually start blooming in specific areas as early as February. Currently, areas such as Sanbangsan Mountain and Jungmun-dong in Seogwipo City, as well as the Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak) area, have vibrant rapeseed blooms.

“The blooming of cherry blossoms signifies the arrival of spring!” Shedding the cold of winter, the “royal cherry blossoms” on Jeju Island bloom, officially heralding the revival of all things. Especially from late March to mid-April, the pale pink blossoms along the main roads compete in beauty, offering a completely different floral spectacle compared to the rapeseed fields on the ground.
