Jeju Island has been designated by the South Korean government as the Island of World Peace. It boasts a historical background in the pursuit of peace and has made numerous efforts to advance peace initiatives. The Jeju International Peace Center is one of the representative projects in this regard.

Situated in Jungmun-dong, Seogwipo-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, the Jeju International Peace Center is the most symbolic building of peace on the island. It covers an area of approximately 8,434 pyeong, with a floor space of 2,155 pyeong, and features three exhibition rooms across a basement level and two above-ground floors. The first exhibition room showcases Jeju’s cultural heritage and records of world leaders who have visited the island, all set against the backdrop of Jeju’s spirit of peace. The second exhibition room is most captivating for its massive Tree of World Peace and a list of Nobel Peace Prize laureates. The third room displays lifelike wax figures of renowned Korean entertainers, including Bae Yong-joon, Lee Byung-hun, and Lee Young-ae, which are both realistic and fascinating.
