Sound Island Museum

The Sound Island Museum is located in the Jungmun Tourist Complex, Seogwipo-dong, Seogwipo-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, South Korea. It is a museum where visitors can experience the world's sound culture and the advancements in sound science. Here, guests can not only see, hear, touch, and feel a variety of musical instruments that produce sound from around the globe, but they can also personally play them.

The Sound Island Museum houses five exhibition rooms, displaying a collection that includes both the tinfoil used by Edison to store sound and the telegraaf used to transmit it, as well as over 40 Yuyu-geum instruments and other sound-producing devices. The museum offers not only visual and auditory experiences but also hands-on opportunities to play the instruments. Notably, the world’s largest shell mosaic artwork on the first floor, composed of more than 50,000 crustaceans and shells, is one of the museum’s most unique highlights.
