Global Folklore Education Museum

The Global Folklore Education Museum is located on Hoihyeon 1-gil, Jung District, Seoul, and was established by the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education. It was founded to provide students, parents, and citizens with the opportunity to learn about folklore artifacts from around the world, thereby enhancing educational effectiveness.

The Global Folklore Education Museum houses a collection of approximately 1,500 folklore artifacts from around the world, including religious ritual items, making it one of the best places in Korea to explore global folklore and cultural objects. With a wide variety of religions and differing ritual practices across the world, the religious ritual tools on display in the museum exude an air of mystery. Among these, the most captivating are the anthropomorphic deity statues, including bronze Buddha statues from Nepal, earthenware deities from Japan, ceramic pagodas from China, and mythological bird figures from Malaysia. Different countries, different religions, and diverse materials allow visitors to compare both commonalities and differences among nations through the various statues. In addition, the exhibition hall also displays stationery, masks, tableware, figurative sculptures, and scepters from around the world, drawing the attention of many visitors.
