Museum of Paper

The Museum of Paper is located on Jongno 1-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul, and is a museum dedicated to showcasing the historical development of paper culture. The museum houses a collection of over 5,000 paper art and cultural works, ranging from the history of paper culture to contemporary artworks, offering visitors a comprehensive understanding of the indispensable role of paper in our lives.

The first floor of the Museum of Paper is dedicated to special exhibitions, while the third floor houses the permanent exhibition halls. The special exhibition hall frequently features showcases by prominent figures in the world of paper art, where visitors can admire a variety of exquisite paper artworks. The permanent exhibition halls are divided into the First Exhibition Hall and the Second Exhibition Hall. The First Exhibition Hall primarily illustrates the important role of paper in the life history of the Korean people, displaying a range of fine paper works from traditional paper crafts to modern art techniques. The Second Exhibition Hall introduces origami and clay art to children and teenagers, and offers special hands-on experience programs for creative crafting activities.

In addition to its rich exhibitions and creative experiences, the Museum of Paper also co-hosts the “Open Call Exhibition of Paper Art and Cultural Works” every October with the Paper Culture Foundation. This is the largest open call exhibition in Korea’s paper art scene, aimed at promoting the development of the paper art and culture industry.
