Namsan Arts Center

The Namsan Arts Center is one of the 11 “Seoul Creation Spaces” operated by the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, located on Songpa-ro in Jung-gu, Seoul. Targeting both artists and the general public, it attracts numerous visitors daily who come to explore, appreciate art, and enjoy cultural experiences.

The Namsan Arts Center is composed of the Theater Center and the Arts Education Center. The Theater Center was established in 1962 by Dongrang Yoo Chi-jin, a pioneer of modern Korean theater, making it the country’s first modern-style theater. In 1997, the interior of the Theater Center was renovated and equipped with state-of-the-art stage, sound, and video facilities, enabling visitors to enjoy not only cutting-edge stage effects in Korea but also innovative modern plays.

To the right rear of the Theater Center is the Arts Education Center. The first and second floors house the offices and classrooms of the Seoul Cultural Arts Support Center. This facility supports the development of various cultural and arts education programs for schools, social institutions, and the general public. The third floor is the Arts Education Information Library, which contains over 8,000 books and video materials related to the arts, all available for visitors to browse freely.
