Kaike Onsen

Kaike Onsen is located in Yonago City at the western edge of Tottori Prefecture, adjacent to Shimane Prefecture, and is a seaside hot spring resort facing the Sea of Japan. It was first discovered in 1900 by a fisherman. Although it does not have a long history, within an area of about 1 km east-west and 0.4 km north-south where the hot springs emerge, there are already more than 30 ryokan, hotels, and public lodging facilities, with a capacity of around 4,500 people, making it reputed to be the largest hot spring resort for therapeutic bathing in the San'in region.

Kaike Onsen has a total of 19 springs, with a combined flow rate of 4,456.5 liters per minute, and temperatures ranging between 63 and 83 degrees Celsius. The spring water is sodium-calcium chloride type and is believed to have certain therapeutic effects on conditions such as neuralgia, rheumatism, chronic skin diseases, and chronic gynecological disorders. The hot spring water here emerges from the sea, and the salt-containing thermal water is also highly effective for skin beauty, which makes it especially popular among women. Within the hot spring area, there is also the Kaike Onsen Shrine, which is said to bless visitors with good health and family happiness, and many worshippers often come here to pray.
