Tottori Airport Renamed "Tottori Sand Dunes Conan Airport" and Begins Operations!

On March 1, Tottori Prefecture Airport in Japan was officially renamed Tottori Sand Dunes "Conan" Airport (Tottori Sand Dunes Conan Airport) after the manga character Detective Conan (Case Closed)! In addition to the name change, from signs to attraction introductions, the presence of Detective Conan can be seen everywhere. Full-size figures of Conan and Ran have been installed inside the airport, along with large floor murals, making air travel more fun.

Tottori Prefecture is the hometown of Gosho Aoyama, the creator of Detective Conan. The airport has been named after Conan in hopes of attracting more tourists to visit the prefecture and enjoy activities such as admiring the sand dunes, soaking in hot springs, and sampling local cuisine. From the exterior to the interior, the Conan Airport not only features Conan as its logo outside the terminal but also has life-sized figures of Ran and Conan dressed as flight attendants to greet visitors. Travelers can also learn more about Tottori’s attractions through Conan’s introductions, and there’s even a giant 3D floor painting of Conan riding a camel for visitors to admire and take photos with.
