Tottori Airport Renamed to Tottori Sand Dunes Conan Airport, Officially Opens for Operations!

The airport in Tottori Prefecture, Japan, was officially renamed Tottori Sand Dunes "Conan" Airport (鳥取砂丘コナン空港) on March 1st, after the manga character Detective Conan (名侦探柯南)! In addition to the name change, elements such as signage and attraction descriptions feature the presence of Detective Conan everywhere. Inside the airport, life-size figures of Conan and Ran have been installed, along with large floor murals, making air travel more fun.

Tottori Prefecture is the hometown of Gosho Aoyama, the author of Detective Conan. The renaming of the airport after Conan aims to attract more tourists to visit Tottori Prefecture to enjoy the sand dunes, hot springs, and delicious cuisine. From the exterior to the interior, the Conan Airport not only uses Conan as the airport’s logo, but inside the airport there are also life-sized figures of Ran and Conan dressed as flight attendants showcasing the terminal. Visitors can also learn more about Tottori-related attractions through Conan’s introductions, and there's an oversized 3D floor painting of Conan riding a camel for guests to admire and take photos with.
