Jiaolong Waterfall is a cliffside waterfall located on the northern side of the Tashan mountain range in Taihe Village, Meishan Township, Chiayi County, Taiwan. With a total drop of 600 meters, it is the highest waterfall in Taiwan. During the summer high-water season, the waterfall is majestic and awe-inspiring—when viewed from afar, it resembles either a towering pillar of white jade or a white dragon soaring into the clouds, truly a breathtaking sight.

Standing next to Jiaolong Waterfall, visitors can see a 1,600-meter-high cliff face shrouded in mist, making the summit invisible. It seems as if the waterfall is gushing down from these very clouds, cascading down in multiple streams over a width of nearly 100 meters. Along the cliffs, it splits from one stream into four or five, then merges into two, then further divides into seven or eight… before finally plunging 400 meters into the abyss at the base, where water droplets splash and the sound roars like thunder.

During the rainy season from May to September when water volume is high, Jiaolong Waterfall cascades down in two tiers. When water levels are low, it flows down the valley in four tiers, with the lowest tier approximately 400 meters above the ground. Visitors standing in the open area of Fengshan can clearly observe that during the summer high-water period, the waterfall is extremely powerful, but in the winter dry season, only a bare rock face is visible. Therefore, it’s best for visitors to come during the summer months.
