Siraya National Scenic Area

The Siraya National Scenic Area is located in the foothill region of the eastern part of the Chianan Plain in Tainan City. It is a scenic area planned and established by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications of the Republic of China. Its coverage includes all or parts of 14 districts in Tainan City such as Baihe District, Dongshan District, and Liuying District, as well as a small portion of Dapu Township in Chiayi County, with a land area of 87,070 hectares and a water area of 3,380 hectares, featuring numerous world-renowned natural and cultural attractions.

Located at the upper reaches of the Zengwen River, Yanshui River, and Jishui River watersheds, the Siraya National Scenic Area has been an activity area for prehistoric humans and the indigenous Siraya people since the Paleolithic Age. Many Pingpu and Siraya people have settled here, and numerous traditional festivals and rituals are preserved, making the cultural life exceptionally rich and diverse. In addition to the well-known five reservoir attractions—the largest Zengwen Reservoir, Wushantou Reservoir, Baihe Reservoir, and Taiwan’s oldest Jianshan Tiger Head Pond Reservoir—in the scenic area, there are also unique limestone landscapes like Caoshan Moon World, the Zuojiang fossil site, Pingpu cultural festivals, Guan’ao Hot Springs, the Jiang Family Ancestral House, Bao Guang Holy Hall, and abundant local agricultural and specialty products, ensuring a colorful experience for every visitor.
