Hall of the Northern Peak

The Hall of the Northern Peak is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Hall of the Northern Peak is located on Minquan Road in Chiayi City and was first built during the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty. It primarily enshrines the Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha, hence it is also known as the "Ksitigarbha Temple." This hall stands seven stories tall, majestic and imposing. The interior features exquisitely carved beams and painted rafters, creating a solemn and dignified atmosphere. Ascending to the top floor offers a panoramic view of Chiayi’s cityscape. On the 30th day of the seventh lunar month, the birthday of Ksitigarbha, the temple attracts large crowds of devout worshippers, creating a very lively atmosphere. The temple also hosts the Lantern Festival exhibition, where dazzling and radiant lantern displays can be admired.

Due to its early development, Chiayi City boasts numerous historical sites and scenic spots. In addition to famous temples such as Mituo Temple and the Hall of the Northern Peak, the city area is home to about 20 temples of various sizes, including Daming Chan Temple, Shengtian Palace, Guangzheng Wanjiao Palace, Yuanfu Temple, Jinlong Temple, and Renwu Temple, giving the area a rich historical charm.
