Hulugou Valley is located in Shanmahu Stream, Fanlu Township, and is part of the Lower Caoshan Waterfall Group. It earned its name due to the gully’s gourd-like shape. Its fame skyrocketed when hikers accidentally discovered it was perfect for water sliding, sparking a surge in the sport’s popularity.

Hulugou Valley is made up of natural rock walls, with a wide and open stream bed dotted with jumbled boulders and thick moss growing along the bottom. The crystal-clear waters create a fresh and picturesque landscape. Within the valley lies a small waterfall about 3 feet tall, and the water sliding area is situated just above it. The slide zone spans roughly 30 meters in both length and width on a sloped rock surface of about 20 degrees. When sliding, adventurers glide down the rocky slope like on a water slide, sending up sprays of white foam—great fun that gives it a natural, untamed charm that far surpasses the artificial water slides found in amusement parks.

Transportation Tips: Take a Chiayi County Bus bound for Dapu from in front of Chiayi Railway Station, get off at Gongtiandi Stop, and then walk to the destination.
