Cihu Mausoleum

Cihu Mausoleum is a cultural tourism attraction.

The official name of Cihu Mausoleum is the Mausoleum of the Late President Chiang Kai-shek. It is located in Fuan Village, Daxi Township, Taoyuan County, Taiwan, and serves as the resting place of the late President Chiang Kai-shek of the Republic of China. It is currently managed by the Cihu Mausoleum Administration Office under the --. The land originally belonged to the Banqiao Lin family, and the mausoleum was initially called the "Dongkou Guesthouse." It was completed on June 13, 1959, and renamed "Cihu Guesthouse" in 1962 after being inscribed with the name "Cihu" by President Chiang Kai-shek himself. Prior to the passing of President Chiang Kai-shek, it served as his retreat residence.

Cihu is divided into Front Cihu and Rear Cihu. Rear Cihu is currently a military restricted area and requires special permission to enter. Front Cihu features a roughly 5-hectare “New Pond,” where many swans are kept. Since Cihu Mausoleum is not far from other famous scenic spots in Taoyuan County such as the Shihmen Reservoir, Daxi Old Street, and Lalashan, the Taoyuan County Government established a “Bronze Statue Park” next to Cihu. This park houses the bronze statues of Chiang Kai-shek that were dismantled during the de-Chiang campaign carried out between 2000 and 2008 when -- was in office. These statues, mostly removed from across Taiwan (especially counties and cities governed by --), were relocated and preserved here by then Taoyuan County Magistrate Eric Chu. As a result, the park has become a unique theme park featuring installation art.

Another major highlight of Cihu Mausoleum is the regular guard-changing ceremony performed by the local garrison of military police, which attracts both local and international tourists.
