Lacking the "artificial touch" – The down-to-earth Yellow Duck in Taoyuan

After the Yellow Duck was relocated to Taoyuan for exhibition, it sparked both positive and negative reactions. The Taoyuan County Cultural Affairs Bureau used aerial cameras to document the event. Visitors might want to view the exhibition from a different angle and height, as Taoyuan presents an exhibition centered around "land art." The duck leisurely floats among the local "paddy ponds," a distinctive landscape feature of Xinyi, offering a back-to-nature experience that is more therapeutic and aligns even better with the duck’s original intention of bringing joy to people.

Viewed from high above, the area surrounding the event venue is filled with lush green farmland and various-sized paddy ponds. It is complemented by the polka-dot art of master artist Yayoi Kusama, the large lotus installation created by South Korean artist Choi Jeong Hwa, and the work of local artists titled "Rice Together." All draw inspiration and set their creative backdrop entirely from the local "landscape" – something never seen in exhibitions held in other cities.

In Kaohsiung or Hong Kong, the atmosphere is more "modern," where visitors can see the duck stationed by the city harbor surrounded by skyscrapers, illuminated even at night. In Taoyuan, the natural geographic backdrop with less of an "artificial touch" presents the duck in another light. The creator of the Yellow Duck, Florentijn Hofman, chose the most remote Xinyi paddy pond precisely because he believed it best highlights the duck’s beauty.
