Taoyuan Jingfu Temple

Taoyuan Jingfu Temple is a temple located in Taoyuan City, Taoyuan County, Taiwan, primarily enshrining Koxinga (Kai Zhang Sheng Wang), with accompanying deities including the God of Wealth (Xuan Tan Zhen Jun), Guanyin Bodhisattva, the Heavenly Holy Mother, the Queen Mother of the West, and the Goddess of Fertility. It serves as an important spiritual hub for the local community in Taoyuan and is designated as a third-grade historic site in Taiwan. Locally, it is commonly referred to as the Big Temple or Taoyuan Big Temple.

Taoyuan Jingfu Temple was first built in the 10th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1745) and was reconstructed and officially named Jingfu Temple in the 15th year of the Jiaqing reign (1810). It underwent renovations and expansions during the Japanese colonial period and again in the 50th year of the Republic of China (1961). The current Taoyuan Jingfu Temple faces south with a slight eastward orientation, featuring a traditional siheyuan-style (courtyard) temple architecture with a width of nine bays, two courtyards, and two corridors. It is the largest temple dedicated to Koxinga in Taiwan. Located precisely at the bustling intersection of Zhongzheng Road and Zhongshan Road in Taoyuan City, the temple holds a strategically important position. Since its establishment during the Qing Dynasty, it has served as the center of daily life, faith, and worship for both the urban area of Taoyuan and the surrounding townships. The city’s road network radiates outward from this central point. In addition to Taoyuan City, the temple's influence also extends to the fifteen local districts of Taoyuan, as well as parts of Bade, Guishan, and Luzhu.
