Lala Mountain Scenic Area

This is the place with the most oxygen in Taiwan. In late autumn, when green leaves turn yellow and red, it’s especially poetic. Lala Mountain was the original name of Daguanshan. Strolling along the phytoncide trails, you can also find Taiwan hemlock, beech, mountain cherry blossom, Taiwan azalea, green maple, sweet gum, Taiwan holly, and occasionally spot Formosan macaques and Mikado pheasants. The protected area is home to thousand-year-old sacred trees. Currently, there are 22 numbered Taiwan red cypress trees, making it the forest reserve with the highest number of red cypresses in Taiwan. The cool climate, fertile soil, and frequent mist on Lala Mountain are ideal for growing temperate fruits. The peach season every June and July attracts large numbers of tourists to come up the mountain for fruit picking.
