Visiting here, you can not only enjoy the fragrance of rice stalks but also cycle along well-developed bike paths to explore historic sites such as “Hei Bai Xi” and sample a variety of local snacks. Longtan is a renowned Hakka settlement in Taoyuan, and it is home to a century-old street known as “Longtan’s First Street” — Sankeng Old Street, which is also named after the three water channels in the village. During the Qing Dynasty, the area became a cargo hub thanks to its convenient water transport, dominating the economic lifelines of places like Longtan and Yangmei, and ushering in a period of prosperity and population growth. Although the bustling scenes of those times have faded, traces of history can still be found along the streets today.
