Macao Basic Law Memorial Hall

Established in 2013, the Macao Basic Law Memorial Hall comprehensively showcases the successful implementation and historical development of the "Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China" through text, images, and physical exhibits. It aims to provide local residents and visitors with a more intuitive understanding of the successful practice of "One Country, Two Systems" in Macao.

The Macao Basic Law Memorial Hall consists of five exhibition zones: "Retrospect of Macao’s History," "Sino-Portuguese Joint Declaration," "Drafting of the Basic Law," "Promotion of the Basic Law," and "Implementation of the Basic Law." Each zone has its own unique features. It begins with photographs from different historical periods, reviewing Macao’s past and helping the public understand the historical background of the Macao Basic Law. Then, through photos and artifacts, it documents the arduous process of preparing, promoting, and publicizing the Basic Law. Finally, it recreates the great historic moment of the handover through models of the handover venues, documents, and mementos.
