The most convenient way to enjoy cherry blossoms by metro: Zhongzheng Memorial Hall is a great spot

If you want to enjoy cherry blossoms but don’t have much time to head into the mountains, the cherry blossom grove at Zhongzheng Memorial Hall, which you can easily reach by metro, is a great urban choice for spring flower viewing. With over 200 cherry blossom trees blooming in succession and 11 stunning varieties, it attracts both domestic and international tourists who stop to admire the view.

On the right side of Zhongzheng Memorial Hall, near the Daxiao Gate, there is a large area of Shuzenji kanhi cherry blossoms. Their soft pink hues are very beautiful, blooming in late February and still visible in early March. Heading to the back of the main hall, you can admire Oh-iwa cherry blossoms, Kawazu cherry blossoms, and a beautiful avenue of mountain cherry blossom trees.

On the left side of Zhongzheng Memorial Hall, near the Dazhong Gate, you’ll find Ohkan cherry blossoms. The garden on the side of Aiguo East Road features brightly colored double-flowered cherry blossoms (yaezakura), and visitors in the cherry blossom groves can’t help but capture the beautiful scenery with their cameras and phones.

The flower bed in the rainwater harvesting area has a stone monument inscribed with “Friendship Cherry Blossoms.” This area is planted with seven varieties of Japanese cherry blossoms; the large lawns on both sides of the felt flower beds are planted with Sunshine and Kawazu cherry blossom trees.

Zhongzheng Memorial Hall is one of the must-visit attractions for foreign tourists coming to Taiwan. Many people are impressed by the memorial hall building itself, the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Archway, and the National Theater and National Concert Hall on either side, but the garden landscaping around the hall is rarely mentioned. The cherry blossom beauty lies within this tranquil garden, making it a great spot for a leisurely stroll and flower viewing on holidays.
