Introduction

The Hong Kong Railway Museum is a museum under the Hong Kong Heritage Museum that specializes in the history of the Kowloon-Canton Railway. It is a uniquely styled traditional Chinese building with a pyramidal roof. It is located at 13 Chung Tak Street, Tai Po Market.

Its former site was the old Tai Po Market railway station, which was built in 1913 and covers an area of 6,500 square meters. It was once one of the important stations on the Kowloon-Canton Railway. However, as the KCR introduced electric trains in the 1980s, the new Tai Po Market railway station was opened in 1983, and the old station was closed in the same year. The original site of the old station was designated as a statutory monument in 1984 and was converted into a museum, which opened in 1985. Transportation
