A Hidden Paradise: Waterfall Wonderland with an Aerial View of Taiwan’s Yangtze Gorges

Located in Dapu Township, Chiayi, along the Zengwen River system, besides the well-known Zengwen Reservoir attraction, there lies a hidden paradise-like wonder – Qingyun Waterfall. This is a famous waterfall landscape within the Siraya National Scenic Area. In the past, Tsou tribe boys had to jump off the waterfall to prove they had come of age. Now, it has become a popular dating spot for couples. When water levels are high, the cascading water accompanied by thunderous sounds creates a breathtaking scene. As the streams converge at the base, couples holding hands are witnessed by the waterfall beneath them—hence it is also called the Lovers’ Waterfall.

The pool at Qingyun Waterfall is vast, surrounded by mountain cliffs, resembling a fairyland hidden away from the world. Passing by the nearby Dapu Bridge, you can also gaze down at the magnificent valleys and streams of the Siraya Scenic Area. The sweeping view rivals the spectacular scenery of the Yangtze Gorges. Standing quietly beneath the waterfall, one can feel their mind, body, and spirit being cleansed by the flowing water—a truly relaxing experience.
