Hong Kong Science Park

Hong Kong Science Park (abbreviated as HKSP) is located in Pak Shek Kok, Tai Po District, New Territories, Hong Kong, along the shores of Tolo Harbour. It is adjacent to the Pak Shek Kok Promenade and near The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

According to Hong Kong's administrative divisions, the southeastern part of the Science Park belongs to Sha Tin District. Strategically positioned between the border of Mainland China and Hong Kong’s urban area, the park, similar to Cyberport, adopts a low-density, university-campus-like layout. It serves as a research hub focused on high technology and applied sciences—including electronics, biotechnology, green technology, precision engineering, information technology, and telecommunications. Officially launched on May 7, 2001, it is operated by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation.

Phase I of Hong Kong Science Park consists of two parts: the Core Building and the Shared Facilities and Technology Support Building. Phase II covers an area of 77,320 square metres with a total floor area of 105,000 square metres, comprising 10 buildings in total. These include 2 energy buildings, 2 laboratory buildings located in the campus zone, 4 research and development office buildings with laboratory facilities situated in the core zone, and 2 R&D office buildings in the enterprise zone. The facilities of Phase III (iconic building: The Golden Egg) held their groundbreaking ceremony on December 15, 2011. With a construction cost of HK$4.9 billion, the phase can accommodate 150 technology companies and is scheduled for phased completion from the end of 2013 to 2016.
