The Bai沟 Scenic Area is located 12 kilometers south of Xinyuan County. Traveling up the Qiafu River, there lies a serene and elegant mountain valley — Bai沟. The Qiafu River Bai沟 is one of the nearest tourist scenic areas to Xinyuan County. Driving about one kilometer south from the county town, you enter the Qiafu River Bai沟, where you are greeted by the rushing and roaring Qiafu River Waterfall...

Along the valley, various trees and shrubs grow in a mixed thicket, including mountain poplar, elm, wild apricot, wild apple, hawthorn, and sea buckthorn, filling the slopes of the valley. At times, the riverbanks are flanked by steep cliffs, with the water flowing rapidly and turbulently; at other times, the terrain is open and gentle, with the water calm and mirror-like, winding along a twisting road. Where the road ends before the mountain, you’ll find the reception area of the Bai沟 Scenic Area. Descend the stone steps, cross the suspension bridge, walk into the birch forest, and follow the stone-paved path, where stone benches and wooden tables stand by the wayside. Wooden cabins and yurts are tucked away under the shade of the trees, while flower umbrella pavilions peek out from the grass. Visitors gather here, immersed in the tranquil embrace of nature. Here you can play board games or sing and dance, try archery or horseback riding, enjoy ethnic delicacies, climb tall trees for panoramic views, or pick fruits from cliffs to taste their freshness...

　Continuing southward, we enter the Qiafu River Valley. Traveling upstream along the Qiafu River, the mountain path winds through towering cliffs and layered precipices. Looking up at the mountaintops, the blue sky and white clouds seem to emerge from between the gaps of the mountains. The hillsides are covered with wild apricot and fruit trees, and at the foot of the mountains and along the riverbanks, tall and lush poplar trees rooted in the water are visible everywhere, standing in various graceful poses as if to welcome visitors. The Qiafu River originates from the snow-capped mountains, its waters sometimes turbulent, sometimes calm, crystal clear, like silver chains weaving through the mountains. In summer, you can see many tourists rafting on the river, offering a unique experience that evokes the feeling of “the monkeys’ cries on both banks never cease, yet the light boat has already passed countless mountains.”

Passing through the jungle valley, suddenly the sky opens up and the mountains seem farther away — this is the tourist spot of the Bai沟 Scenic Area. From here, looking south, you can see layers of pine forests nestled against the blue sky and white snow, a truly spectacular sight. To the west, the mountains are steep, leading into the forest park, where you can immerse yourself in the rich scent of pine. To the east, the mountains and forests are crisscrossed with quiet paths, truly bringing you into a realm of “mountain upon mountain, and seemingly impassable yet suddenly revealing a bright village ahead.” Crossing the pontoon bridge over the Qiafu River, you enter the Bai沟 Scenic Area. Amidst the green trees, the scattered red buildings serve as places for dining, accommodation, and entertainment. The forest paths lead to secluded spots, with the sound of flowing water nearby. You can leisurely fish by the stream, as carefree as Jiang Ziya. Perhaps the inspiration for “picking chrysanthemums beneath the eastern hedge, and gazing leisurely at the southern mountain” was born here. In the past, literati often gathered here to compose poetry, and the famous poet Tang Jialeke once created numerous works reflecting the lives of working people in this very place.
