Baishi Mountain is located in Laiyuan County, Hebei Province. Many visitors come from Beijing, Hebei, Shanxi, or Tianjin. Especially during the summer vacation, many parents bring their children here for outdoor activities. On one hand, they enjoy the beautiful or majestic scenery, and on the other, they experience the thrill of man-made attractions like glass skywalks and high-altitude cable cars. No matter what you choose, Baishi Mountain Scenic Area is an excellent destination for escaping the heat and having fun in the sweltering summer.

Baishi Mountain is situated 15 kilometers south of Laiyuan County in Hebei Province. It stands proudly at the northernmost end of the 800-li (400 km) Taihang Mountain range, covering an area of 54 square kilometers. Its highest peak, Foguangding, reaches an elevation of 2,096 meters. From the summit, you can gaze far into the distance at Langya Mountain and Mount Wutai. The mountain features a diverse landscape, combining peak forests, peculiar rocks, sheer cliffs, gorges, waterfalls, forests, sea of clouds, Buddha’s halo, sections of the Great Wall, and temples—all in one. With its unique landforms and complex structures, it is one of China’s ancient “Thirty-Six Blessed Landscapes.”

The peaks of Baishi Mountain can have a height difference of up to 600 meters, embodying what is called “majesty.” The rugged peaks and steep cliffs represent “danger.” The peaks resemble beasts, pagodas, swords, bamboo shoots, or immortals—each carved as if by the hands of gods, representing “oddity.” During summer and autumn, above 1,800 meters in elevation (the starting point of the walking trail is already over 1,800 meters), the area is often shrouded in mist, with a dreamlike sea of clouds. After rain, when the skies clear, the waves of clouds roll and surge, creating an almost unreal, “illusory” scene.

The scenic area features many unexpected little attractions along the mountain paths. The small scenes you encounter while hiking are always surprising and never monotonous. For example, you might come across a narrow crevice, a suspension bridge, a cable car, a sharp turn, or alternative routes created due to rock obstructions. These thoughtful touches keep hikers from getting bored. One of the most memorable features is an artificially crafted heart-shaped platform—it’s simply adorable.

When you’re tired from traveling, the snacks at Shuangxiongshi Food Court at the highest peak of Baishi Mountain Scenic Area are sure to satisfy your appetite. Moreover, the scenic area will host a gourmet festival on August 17th, featuring a wide array of delicious foods from all over the world. Just thinking about it makes your mouth water. Enjoying the beautiful views outdoors while savoring tasty food—such a life is truly heavenly.
