People's Square

The Xinjiang County People's Square was constructed on May 22, 2002, and completed on October 30, 2003. The square stretches 375 meters from north to south and 202 meters from east to west, covering an area of 75,750 square meters. Its overall layout extends deeply from north to south and is symmetrically arranged from east to west. The square is composed of five major architectural complexes: the Century Monument, Cultural Garden, Children’s Amusement Park, Elderly Wellness Park, and Kazakh Folk Culture Garden. It integrates traditional culture, local characteristics, and a modern atmosphere, making it an ideal venue for large celebrations and leisure activities. It is also the only large-scale multifunctional square in the county that combines tourism, leisure, and entertainment.

The Xinjiang County People's Square is divided into five areas: the Municipal Garden, Cultural and Artistic Garden, Elderly Activity Garden, Leisure and Entertainment Garden, and Folk Culture Garden.

The Municipal Garden is located on the northern side of the square, paved with granite. It features a stage, a musical fountain, and a large grandstand that can accommodate over 5,000 people. The cultural corridor on the top of the grandstand displays 14 relief sculptures distributed along the east and west sides. This area serves as a venue for large conferences, artistic performances, leisure, and strolling. To the east of the Municipal Garden stand eight finely crafted marble industry pillars, each representing one of Xinjiang County’s eight major industries.

The Cultural and Artistic Garden is situated in the central area of the square. Ascending the steps, visitors will find the symbolic landmark sculpture of Xinjiang County — the Gate of Hope. Made from granite, aluminum-plastic panels, and concrete, the sculpture stands 28 meters tall, representing the progressive and uplifting spirit of the people of all ethnicities in Xinjiang. To the south of the sculpture is a cascading waterfall that complements the monument, creating a striking visual effect.

The Elderly Activity Garden is located on the western side of the square. Designed in the architectural style of southern China, the garden is lush and cozy, offering an ideal space for the elderly to relax and exercise in the morning. The Leisure and Entertainment Garden is situated on the southern side of the square. With the gentle sound of flowing water, shady trees, flower beds, lawns, and tree-lined paths, visitors can enjoy the magnificent view of the cascading waterfall and listen to the beautiful melodies carried by the sound of flowing water.

The Folk Culture Garden is located in the southeast corner of the square, adjacent to the Leisure and Entertainment Garden. It features lush green lawns, blooming flowers, and crystal-clear white yurts. The miniature landscape showcases the Kazakh folk customs and grassland culture of the Gongnaisi Grassland, along with a sculpture of a white swan that symbolizes a beautiful Kazakh legend. Visitors can enjoy the charm of the grasslands and experience local traditions and customs here.

At night, Olympic Lights surrounding the various leisure areas of the square, along with lawn lights, ground lights, and garden lights, create a dazzling and harmonious display. The musical fountain adds bursts of colorful brilliance. People strolling and relaxing here form a beautiful urban scene. The People's Square enhances the radiance of Xinjiang, the pearl of the grasslands, making it shine even more brilliantly. It is like a radiant jewel embedded in the heart of the Gongnaisi Grassland.
