The Hamust Ski Resort in Xinyuan County is situated at the eastern edge of the county town, 10 kilometers from the city center, 20 kilometers east of the Wild Fruit Forest Scenic Area, and on the southern side of the Nalati Tourist Branch Airport. It faces the Nalati Airport across the highway, just 1.5 kilometers away as the crow flies. The resort spans 3,200 acres and has seen an accumulated investment of over 2 million yuan. Provincial Highway 316 winds through the area, making transportation very convenient. Additionally, ski-dedicated shuttle buses are available—two 25-seat air-conditioned buses pick up and drop off tourists free of charge in front of the Xinyuan Gui Hotel before 12:00 Beijing time every day. The region lies in the mid-temperate zone and features a continental semi-arid climate, with an average annual precipitation of around 500 millimeters. Precipitation exceeds 600 millimeters in the eastern mountainous areas and the southern parts. The mountainous terrain has an average elevation of 900 meters, with moderate slopes. Winters bring heavy snowfall, long snow seasons (lasting about 120 days), high-quality snow, and suitable skiing conditions for up to four months. The development of skiing activities here requires no artificial snow or modifications.

The ski resort covers an area of 1,000 acres and is equipped with advanced facilities such as tow ropes, drag lifts, snow groomers, and snowmaking machines. It is divided into a beginner skiing area, alpine downhill zone, competition area, 2-kilometer cross-country zone, snow tubing and sled play area, snowmobile zone, and a 1,500-square-meter ice-skating area. There are also four functional zones: beginner skiing area, snow tubing and sled zone, snowmobile zone, and competition area. Facilities include one 200-meter drag lift, one 600-meter tow rope track, 200 pairs of skis, one snowmobile, two snow boats, 30 snow tubes, 10 sleds, and 100 pairs of ice skates. The resort offers dining, snacks, and rest and sightseeing areas. Within the ski area, visitors can enjoy a variety of recreational activities simultaneously, including alpine skiing, speed skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and ice skating. The daily reception capacity exceeds 350 people. During the 2006 Spring Festival “Golden Week,” the resort welcomed over 1,500 visitors.
