Kashgar Regional Museum

Established in 1992, Kashgar Regional Museum covers a construction area of 2,360 square meters. Its basic exhibition, "Historical Relics of the Silk Road in Xinjiang," displays hundreds of artifacts unearthed across Xinjiang from the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Han-Tang periods, and the Kara-Khanid Khanate, showcasing the glorious history of the Silk Road.

The building faces east and is constructed with reinforced concrete, comprising three floors including a mezzanine, with one exhibition hall spanning a usable area of 850 square meters and a storage room of 160 square meters.

The "Historical Relics of the Silk Road in Xinjiang" exhibition uses the "Silk Road Xinjiang Section Route Map" to present the oasis culture along the Silk Road through displays of Kashgar’s prehistoric, Han-Tang, Song-Yuan, Ming-Qing periods, and folk cultures at the intersection of the Central and Southern Routes of the Silk Road in Xinjiang. It also highlights the close interconnections between this oasis culture and the Yellow River basin culture of the East, the Mesopotamian culture of the West, and the northern steppe culture of the North. Additionally, the exhibition showcases the lives, production, cultural arts development of the people of the Xinjiang Silk Road, as well as the contributions of the Silk Road to world culture.

Stone Handle Stone Pestle, Western Zhou Dynasty · Height 16.3 cm. Flat top with three raised ridges beneath, leading to the pestle body. Bronze, Spring and Autumn period. Height 57 cm, mouth diameter 44.5 cm, leg height 16 cm. Round mouth, flat folded rim, arched belly, flared body, high ring foot, with double looped upright handles.

Brocade Cotton Robe with Kesi Edge Embroidery, Northern Song Dynasty · Open-front, square collar, narrow long sleeves, cinched waist, wide hem. Neck, shoulders, front opening, cuffs, hem, and center back hem are inlaid with kesi-woven floral patterns, sewn together from upper and lower sections.

In September 2018, it was designated as a National Third-Class Museum.
