The belief from 30 years ago is still the original intention worth upholding today. MUJI held its 2014 autumn/winter new product showcase today (the 3rd). This year's corporate image advertisement and the theme of the showcase, “Nature, Naturally, MUJI,” are concepts derived from the company’s advertising copy 30 years ago. The development of new products also returns to its original philosophy, starting from natural elements such as “air,” “water,” and “the environment,” while re-examining existing products and making improvements. MUJI also presented two major concepts for its global flagship products at the showcase, in addition toa new gifting proposal titled “365 JOYFUL DAY”, conveying MUJI’s product philosophy for this autumn and winter through new product displays and explanations, and continuing to offer lifestyle solutions that resonate positively across various categories!

The theme of this showcase, “Nature, Naturally, MUJI,” is taken from the corporate image ad in 1983, aiming to convey the idea of “Nature, naturally without a logo.” It also upholds the basic concept of developing products that showcase the inherent charm of materials. This belief has remained unchanged for 30 years. For its 2014 Autumn/Winter global key products, MUJI divides the product features into two main categories:“High Quality, Good Value,” offering practical items used frequently in daily life with reasonable pricing and reliable quality; and “Rigorous Selection,” which provides high-quality goods made from premium materials through minimal processing, making them accessible to the general public.By strengthening communication with consumers regarding these key products, MUJI deepens their sense of identification and brings a more comfortable, burden-free lifestyle.

Always emphasizing the selection of high-quality materials, production processes, and environmental care, MUJI’s 2014 product development also returns to its 30-year-old roots, advocating starting from “air,” “water,” and the “environment.” MUJI believes the foundation of a comfortable life comes from clean air and promotes enjoying the healing power of natural scents after having clean air. Therefore, it has collaborated with professional manufacturers to develop an air purifier, with a sleek, compact design and low noise level, perfect for households in Taiwan. In addition, it plans to introduce household appliances such as kettles, automatic pop-up toasters, and rice cookers. Although their release dates in Taiwan are still undecided, this is undoubtedly great news for consumers looking forward to the arrival of these home appliances.

MUJI also leverages Japan’s low-mineral-content soft “water” to develop products. For example, down comforters are washed with ultra-soft water, which deeply cleanses through extremely fine water molecules, achieving maximum fluffiness of the down and providing optimal warmth with the least amount of filling. MUJI also uses natural water sourced from the deep mountain caves of Kanegasaki in Iwate Prefecture, Japan, combined with natural skincare ingredients, to create basic skincare products. This autumn/winter, it will launch an ALL IN ONE body beauty gel for sensitive skin and hydrating care series. While extensively using natural materials, MUJI is also committed to adopting new materials to protect the natural “environment.” For instance, makeup brushes have stopped using natural animal hair and instead use polyester fibers, 37% of which are derived from plant-based raw materials. Considering the limited supply of feather resources, it has introduced antibacterial polyester cotton non-feather duvets. At the same time, it continues to integrate the latest technology during development to ensure that the practicality of the products is not compromised.

For the upcoming autumn/winter season, MUJI also offers warm dressing suggestions. Last year’s best-selling 100% cashmere knitwear series will feature more color options and styles this year. The wool-silk blend washable knitwear series has improved pilling issues through textile technology and, like the cashmere knitwear, can be washed at home, making garment care very convenient. MUJI has also enhanced the development of pants tailored to the body shapes of East Asians, launching men’s and women’s American cotton-blended denim styles with a variety of cuts to provide more outfit combinations. In response to fluctuating autumn/winter temperatures, breathable and comfortable pure cotton innerwear and outerwear are essential items. These include affordable and easy-to-wear organic cotton T-shirts and classic organic cotton flannel shirts, along with multiple patterns for men’s, women’s, and children’s wear, allowing the whole family to dress in matching outfits.
