Iguazu Falls National Park is situated on the border between Brazil and Argentina, in a basalt region that crosses the boundary of both countries. The Iguazu River originates from the Misiones Mountains in northern Brazil at an elevation of 1,300 meters. Spanning 1,320 kilometers, the river flows into Misiones Province in Argentina. When it reaches Iguazu, it encounters a fault line, resulting in the magnificent natural waterfall landscape.

When the river reaches Iguazu Falls, it spans up to 4 kilometers in width, making it the widest waterfall in the world. The river is divided by numerous small islands, forming multiple tributaries. As the water flows downward, hundreds of tributaries form a spectacular chain of waterfalls. During the rainy season, when water volume is abundant, these hundreds of waterfalls connect to create a massive curtain-like waterfall spectacle. The roaring sound of the rushing water can be heard up to 25 kilometers away, and the mist generated by the falls rises as high as 150 meters. Under the sunlight, colorful rainbows often shimmer amidst the spray.

The Devil’s Throat is one of the most spectacular among Iguazu Falls’ 275 individual waterfalls. Forming a horseshoe shape that curves like a throat, several waterfalls are interconnected, reaching a total height of 90 meters and a width of 450 meters. It is the king of all the falls in Iguazu.

In the 15th century, due to the indigenous people's lack of understanding of the true geography of the falls, boats arriving in this area were often engulfed and shipwrecked. Hence, legend has it that the place was called the Devil’s Throat, believed to be the dwelling of a devil who fed on humans, with the thunderous sound of the falls being the devil’s roar. The word IGUAZU (Iguazu) in the local indigenous Macuco language means "big water." This astonishing natural landscape has year-round drawn crowds of visitors and inspired numerous film shoots aiming to capture the fearsome face of the Devil’s Throat.
