Situated in the heart of the Liupan Mountains and neighboring Liangdian Gorge just 12 kilometers away, it is a 5-kilometer-long north-south canyon and one of the sources of the Jing River. It also marks the watershed between the Jing and Wei Rivers—Dahaizi Scenic Spot lies within the Wei River basin, while Xiaohaizi Scenic Spot lies within the Jing River basin. The phrase “clearly distinct as the Jing and Wei” stems from this very location. The area is bordered by the Danan River and Liangdian Gorge, encompassing 200,000 mu of forest. The scenic zone features flowing springs, waterfalls, vast forests, and continuous peaks. It is the most resource-rich area in the Liupan Mountain Reserve in terms of forest and wildlife, earning it the titles “Natural Ecological Botanical Garden” and “Natural Zoo” of the Liupan Mountains. It offers visitors a transcendent experience, allowing them to embrace simplicity, reconnect with nature, and enjoy the joy of returning to the wild.

Ghost Gate Pass is a perilous and densely forested canyon deep within the Erlong River area. Stretching 8 kilometers, the canyon boasts thick forests and is home to a diverse range of wild animals, along with unique natural landscapes. Highlights include “Osmanthus Cliff,” “Chrysanthemum Stream,” “Little Ghost Guarding the Gate,” “Ghost-Suppressing Tower,” “Plunge Pool,” “Nine-Tiered Waterfall,” and “Mushroom Rock.” Traveling upstream, surrounded by misty clouds and the cool valley breeze, one can’t help but feel a spine-tingling thrill. A local folk rhyme says: “Ghost Gate Pass, mountain upon mountain, easy to enter but hard to leave.” Yet, the occasional appearance of wild animals such as roe deer, musk deer, rabbits, and pheasants leaping out from the woods highlights the powerful vitality of nature. The majesty, rugged beauty, and stunning charm of Ghost Gate Pass leave visitors enchanted and reluctant to leave.
