Grotto Bay Grottoes
The Grotto Bay Grottoes are a cultural relic protection unit of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
The Grotto Bay Grottoes are located in Shengli Village, Xinmin Township, Jingyuan County, Guyuan City, and date back to the Song Dynasty.
On September 15, 2005, the Grotto Bay Grottoes were designated as part of the third batch of Autonomous Region-level Cultural Relics Protection Units.
Xinmin Township: A township under the jurisdiction of Jingyuan County. It was transferred from Huating County, Gansu Province, to Jingyuan County in 1956, established as Xinmin Commune in 1961, and became a township in 1983. Located at the southernmost tip of Jingyuan County, it is 30 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 167.1 square kilometers, it has a population of 15,000. The Jinghua Highway passes through the township. It administers 14 village committees: Xianjin, Nan Zhuang, Xi Xian, Yang Bao, Wang Jia Gou, Ma Jia He, Zhang Jia Tai, Yan Jia Shan, Shang Wan, Shi Zui, Zhao Ming, Xian Feng, Gao Jia Gou, and Hua Ya. The main industries are agriculture and animal husbandry, with key agricultural products including wheat, potatoes, and others.
