Fahua Temple

Fahua Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Fahua Temple is located next to Nanchan Temple in Nanshan Park, Xining City, Qinghai Province, and is the largest Han Buddhist nunnery in the province. The temple was originally built in 1943 in Yuanshu Village, Chengxi District, Xining. In 2003, to make way for the construction of the Xining–Ta'er Monastery Expressway (Xita Expressway), the temple was relocated here from Yuanshu Village, to the former site of the "Nanshan Cultural Garden."

The main structures of Fahua Temple include the Mountain Gate Hall, the God of Wealth Hall, the Jade Buddha Hall, and the Mahavira Hall. The magnificent Mahavira Hall was completed in August 2009.

The temple holds six major religious events each year. Its followers are spread across cities and counties such as Xining, Datong, Huangzhong, and Huangyuan. The temple has significant influence among the Han Buddhist community throughout the province.
