A Half-Day Stroll Through the Inner City: A Mini Getaway to Discover Local Charm in Taichung

The Taichung City Government Tourism Bureau is hosting the “2016 Old Town Light Hunt” event this summer. Starting July 23, it will guide the public to explore the local scenery of Taichung’s back station area. Through the “Half-Day Stroll Through the Inner City” travel format, participants will visit a different side of the inner city, with the aim of showcasing unique local shops.

The Half-Day Stroll Through the Inner City will take participants through areas such as the back station, using guided tours to provide deeper insights into the area’s history and local culture. There are three tour routes, each featuring different local cultural landscapes. The first route introduced — Life at the Back Station — will pass by the Quan’an Hall Sun Cake Museum, Taichung Back Station, the Homeless Care Association, No. 20 Warehouse, and the Train Tunnels. It includes non-traditional sightseeing routes such as back station vibes, historic architecture, and humanistic elements, offering a glimpse into life at Taichung’s back station.
