Xining Golden Pagoda Temple

The Xining Golden Pagoda Temple is a cultural heritage site protected by Qinghai Province.

The Golden Pagoda Temple is located within the compound at No. 35 Hongjue Temple Street, on the east side of South Street in Xining City. It was built around the Ming Dynasty. During the Qing Dynasty, it served as a subordinate pagoda to the Ta'er Monastery. In 1958, the temple still had one ancient Buddha hall and nine monks' quarters, covering approximately one mu of land, but had no resident monks. Today, only the ancient hall remains, while the rest has been demolished. In 1985, the temple was returned to the Ta'er Monastery, and both the occupying unit and the Ta'er Monastery funded its renovation, with the Ta'er Monastery assigning personnel to manage it.

Historically, it has always served as the Xining office of the Ta'er Monastery. The Golden Pagoda Temple is a quadrangle courtyard facing south and north, covering an area of 666 square meters. The southern building is the Buddha hall, where statues of the Three Buddhas of the Past, Present, and Future, Eight Great Bodhisattvas, Eighteen Arhats, and the Vajra of Great Power, among others, are enshrined, with the main deity being Sakyamuni Buddha. On the morning of the 16th day of the fourth lunar month, everyone gathers at the Xining Golden Pagoda Temple to offer a thousand lamps. These lights are offered to dispel the darkness of ignorance for all beings from the highest realm down to the hell of unrelenting pain, allowing them to behold the pure lands of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
