Qinghai Tibetan Culture Museum is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Tibetan Medicine Culture Museum is a comprehensive, professional museum that collects, preserves, researches, and exhibits the historical and cultural heritage of Tibetan medicine originating from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, physical evidence of the development of Tibetan medicine, precious artifacts, and Tibetan ethnic art paintings. It is currently the world’s only large-scale Tibetan medicine museum. Invested in by Qinghai Jinhe Tibetan Medicine Group Co., Ltd. with government support, the museum aims to comprehensively showcase the splendid culture of Tibetan medicine to the public both domestically and internationally, revive the developmental history of Tibetan medicine, and rescue the Tibetan medical cultural heritage that is on the verge of being lost.

The Tibetan Medicine Culture Museum is located in the center of Qinghai Biotechnology Industrial Park. Its main building features a majestic and profound presence, abstracting and reinterpreting traditional Tibetan architectural styles through the ancient theme of “the round sky and square earth,” blending traditional Tibetan architectural elements with modern architectural art. Together with the administrative committee and the park plaza, it forms a unified and harmonious urban landmark complex known as the “trinity.” Covering an area of about 200 acres with a total investment exceeding 120 million yuan, the museum has a construction area of 12,000 square meters spread across three floors. The first floor houses artifact storage and equipment rooms, while the second and third floors host seven exhibition halls: Medicinal Specimens, History of Tibetan Medicine, Medical Thangkas, Medical Instruments, Ancient Texts, Astronomy and Calendars, and the Grand Painting Scroll. Through environmental reconstructions, thangka sculptures, artifact displays, and high-tech simulations, the museum exhibits over 2,000 plant, animal, and mineral specimens; portraits of more than 30 renowned Tibetan medicine practitioners throughout history; 80 unique medical illustrations of Tibetan medicine; over 180 surgical instruments used by traditional Tibetan doctors more than 1,300 years ago; and over 1,000 representative works of Tibetan medical classics. Notably, the museum permanently displays the *Chinese Tibetan Culture Artistic Grand Painting Scroll*, a 618-meter-long and 2.5-meter-wide masterpiece designed and planned over 27 years by the contemporary master of Tibetan thangka art, Tsering Lajie. It was created by over 400 top artisans from Tibetan, Mongolian, Han, and Tu ethnic groups over four years, using traditional Tibetan painting techniques and precious pigments such as gold powder, jade, and coral. It has been recorded in the Guinness World Records. At the Tibetan Medicine Culture Museum, through the historical fragments of Tibetan medicine on display, the public can glimpse the distant light of civilization on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, appreciate the invaluable culture of Tibetan medicine, experience the ancient charm of the western plateau, and admire the magnificent and grand artistic scroll.

With strong support and assistance from government departments and all sectors of society, the facilities of the Tibetan Medicine Culture Museum will be further improved, the collection of artifacts will be enriched, the scale of exhibitions will expand, and technical capabilities will grow. The museum will promote a deeper understanding of Tibetan medicine culture through high-level, multidisciplinary research in Tibetan medicine, history, and cultural relics, continuously advancing the sustainable development of Tibetan medicine. The Tibetan Medicine Culture Museum will become a window for Qinghai Province’s openness to the outside world and for ethnic unity and progress, as well as an important cultural venue in the Qinghai-Tibet region offering the public a high-quality cultural experience.
