Cangyuan Cliff Paintings

Introduction: One of the oldest cliff paintings discovered in China to date. Tests indicate that these paintings were created over 3,000 years ago during the late Neolithic Age. They are typically painted on vertical limestone cliffs, about 2 to 10 meters above the ground. The individual images range in size from approximately 0.3 meters to as small as 0.05 meters. There are 1,063 identifiable images, including human figures, animals, houses, paths, caves, trees, the sun, boats, and handprints. Most depict hunting and gathering scenes, along with dances, battles, and other content.
