The Cangyuan Cliff Painting Valley tourist scenic area is located in Menglai Township, a Wa ethnic village in Cangyuan County, Lincang City. It is renowned both domestically and internationally for its ancient cliff paintings, which date back over 3,500 years. A total of 15 cliff painting sites have been discovered so far. These ancient artworks vividly depict the hunting, herding, village life, warfare, dancing, acrobatics, and religious rituals of the ancient Wa ancestors. The content is rich, the compositions are concise, and the style is bold and unrestrained. The figures and animals are depicted in diverse, lifelike poses, showcasing a unique artistic style that brings to life the scenes of ancient life. These paintings hold significant value for the study of ancient ethnic history, religion, culture, and art, and the site is a nationally designated key cultural relics protection unit. The scenic area boasts beautiful natural landscapes, lush forests, dense vegetation, towering cliffs, murmuring streams, and a rich, traditional ethnic culture.
