Kongbai Village

Kongbai is a world-renowned "Silversmith Village," where every household has a silversmith and master craftsmen emerge in every generation. The silversmiths of Kongbai have traditionally inherited their craft from their fathers, passing it down through generations with very little external transmission. However, in recent years, most have left to seek livelihoods elsewhere, leaving only some elderly silversmiths in the village.

The village is primarily divided into three sections: Upper Hamlet, Middle Hamlet, and Lower Hamlet. This is the highest point — the Upper Hamlet. Most of the young people have moved to the cities, leaving behind an aging population.

The main structures in the village are stilted wooden houses built in the traditional Ganlan style. These stilt houses are built along the mountain slopes, standing closely together in rows, with most buildings located along both sides of the roads.
