Zhuxi Miao Village

Zhuxi Miao Village is located 20 kilometers south of Kaili City in Guizhou Province. It earned its name from the fact that boats could once navigate the area, and in the Miao language, it is called xangmos (享卯), meaning "the market day of the Mao (a traditional date)." The village is home to ethnic groups such as the Miao and Mulao, and is renowned for its craftsmanship in making lusheng, weaving, and embroidery.

Within Zhuxi Miao Village are the Gaduida Cave, the Wenchang Pavilion, and the ruins of a Miao-style flower bridge. At the riverbank near the upper village of Zhuxi Tun, there is the GanNangxiang Lusheng Field, which spans over 500 meters in length and more than 100 meters in width. A grand Lusheng Festival is held here annually from the 16th to the 20th of the first lunar month, attracting increasingly large crowds—now reaching 30,000 to 40,000 people—and offering a spectacular scene. It has become one of the largest Lusheng fields in southeastern Guizhou. Additionally, the lusheng instruments and embroidered flower baby carriers made here are also very famous, known as the "Two Treasures of Zhuxi."
