Zhou Genfa Looks at a Map
A 63-year-old elderly man from Shanghai became disabled after being injured in a car accident. Recently, this elderly man was drawn to the beautiful scenery of Guizhou and decided to hike through the province.
According to Zhou Genfa, he is 63 years old and hails from Putuo District, Shanghai. Ten years ago, he was involved in a car accident in Chongqing, which left his right leg with a third-degree disability, making it 2.5 centimeters shorter than his left leg. Initially, he had difficulty accepting this reality, but later, after seeing footage of Paralympic athletes’ perseverance, he regained his confidence.
Recently, after hearing from friends that Guizhou has stunning landscapes and rich cultural resources, he decided to hike through the province. Not long ago, he took a bus from Fenghuang in Hunan to Tongren in Guizhou, beginning his hiking journey. He visited Fanjing Mountain and several other scenic spots, then traveled to Kaili to see the Xijiang Miao Village. From there, he walked to Anshun, where he toured the Huangguoshu Waterfall, and continued on to Guiyang. Along the way, he received help from kind drivers and police officers who gave him rides for parts of the journey, but he mostly traveled on foot. His next destinations include Zunyi and other scenic areas.
Zhou Genfa said that not only is Guizhou’s scenery beautiful, but its people are kind as well. One day, when it got dark in Anshun and he still hadn’t found a place to stay, a local villager invited him to stay at their home and even offered him a meal. Strangers along the road also treated him to meals, and police officers offered assistance proactively… all of which deeply moved him.
