Shuitou Village

Shuitou Village is located at the southern end of the "Ten-Mile Gallery," on a headland where the Qinglong River flows into Digao Dam and meanders past the village. Backed by Xiangtianlong Mountain and facing the Qinglong River, the village is surrounded by ancient trees and boasts beautiful scenery. Diwoping Village is situated at the southern end of the "Ten-Mile Gallery," adjacent to Shuitou Village, nestled at the foot of Xiangtianlong Mountain on both banks of the Qinglong River. The area around the village is covered with ancient trees that provide dense shade. In spring and summer, hundreds or even thousands of egrets nest, breed, and roost in the ancient trees around the village, creating a unique landscape. The village consists of two villager groups with 94 households and a population of 324. Aside from 22 households of mixed surnames, the rest are direct descendants of Song Wanhua, an official of the Song clan’s native chieftaincy. Ping Village was established around the late Ming Dynasty, after the An-Song Rebellion, when the Ming government implemented the policy of replacing hereditary native chieftains with centrally appointed officials. The descendants of the Song clan gradually migrated here from Hongbian Village in Wudang. Existing ancient structures include a family temple with wooden carved doors and windows and a stone courtyard. The lower hall and left wing room have been demolished, leaving only the foundations. There is also a feng shui pavilion, which underwent its fourth restoration last year.
