Macha River Streamhead Hot Springs is located in Wenshu Village, Chengguan Town, on the eastern side of Kaiyang County, adjacent to Wengzhao Village in Huali Township. It is over 70 kilometers from the provincial capital, Guiyang, and about ten kilometers from the county seat. The village lies within a subtropical humid monsoon climate zone, with an average annual temperature of 12.8°C, an average frost-free period of 220 days, and an average annual rainfall of 1258.8 millimeters, with the rainy season mainly concentrated in June, July, and August. The average relative humidity is around 85%. Macha River Streamhead Hot Springs is a rare pre-Sinian deep-earth hot spring from the Precambrian era in China, and one of only a few hot springs in the country that are both drinkable and suitable for bathing. The hot spring is situated on the western flank of the Wengzhao anticline, along the Macha River tensional fault zone, and is classified as a fault-fracture spring. The spring outlet elevation is 693 meters, 0.2 meters above the river surface, with a water temperature of 43°C, a flow rate of 4.65 liters per second, and a daily discharge of up to 400 tons. The water is crystal clear and transparent, with biological analysis tests meeting all drinking water standards.
