Yihu Garden

Yihu Garden is located in Yihu Park, beside the newly built Chengdu–Mianyang Expressway in Qingbaijiang District on the northern outskirts of Chengdu. It is about 30 kilometers from downtown Chengdu, covering an area of approximately 213 acres, including a lake that spans around 70 acres.

The garden was initiated in 1986 by the Construction Committee of Qingbaijiang District and completed in just over two years, officially opening to the public in 1988. Yihu Park is a modern, large-scale comprehensive park, characterized by

its strong modern urban garden architectural style and exotic charm, attracting thousands of domestic and international visitors. Shanghai’s Xuelin Publishing House once included the garden in its internationally distributed pictorial "China’s Scenic Spots." The garden’s main gate is exquisitely designed, uniquely shaped, elegant and relaxing, with great symbolic significance.

The beauty of Yihu lies in its greenery and novelty. Upon entering through the uniquely structured gate, visitors are greeted by a succession of stunning sights that are a feast for the eyes. Lush green trees surround the clear waters of the lake, which covers an artificially created mountain divided into two sections by a valley. The shimmering lake water employs a three-tiered high-low circulation system, and the resulting waterfalls and cascades produce a pleasant gurgling sound. The integration of green trees, green water, and green lawns creates a harmonious whole. Boating on the lake, admiring fish under the arched bridge, and sipping tea on the shore offer a unique delight. The lake area houses the garden’s main attractions, including a Japanese-style music teahouse at the north end of the lake. Shaped like three connected “large drums” and entirely decorated with brown-tinted glass, the building features a novel, bright, and cheerful style. Connecting the boat dock to the music teahouse is an elegantly designed lakeside arched bridge. Fish swim to and fro in the lake, while visitors on both sides enjoy themselves amid continuous laughter and chatter.
