Shicheng Mountain Temple and Ancient Fortress

Shicheng Mountain Temple and Ancient Fortress is a cultural tourism attraction.

Located at the summit of Shicheng Mountain in Xianfeng Village, Renhe Township, the temple was originally built during the Dali era of the Tang Dynasty and rebuilt during the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty. Covering an area of 4,000 square meters, it consists of a front hall, main hall, and Qihall, arranged in three sections, all built with wooden structures and mortise-and-tenon joints. The main hall is the largest: 17.8 meters wide, 11 meters deep, and 7.8 meters high in total. The front and rear halls are 15 meters wide and 6 meters high in total. The summit of Shicheng Mountain, where the temple is located, has an elevation of 897.5 meters, making it the highest peak in Qingbaijiang District and comparable to Jintang’s Yunding Mountain. This mountain is a branch of the Longquan Mountain Range, twisting and turning along the way, lined with ridges, and featuring perilous terrain. A poet of old once wrote about it:

“In autumn’s height, the crane cries out; when the wind stills, the old monk returns. The tower nears the blue sky and moon; frost chills the traveler’s robe.” Shicheng Mountain was originally a military fortress. The mountain paths are steep and rugged, dotted with sheer cliffs and precipices. From the Jin Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, troops were stationed here in successive dynasties, making it an important military defense line.
