The former residence is located in the central-northern part of the village and consists of eastern and western courtyards. The western courtyard is a two-courtyard complex, a typical northern-style quadrangle. The front courtyard has a gate tower and east and west wing rooms; passing through the yard leads to the rear courtyard, where the east, west, south, and north rooms are all two-story, three-bay structures built in the mid-Qing Dynasty. Zhao Shuli was born in the north room of this courtyard.

The eastern courtyard is also a two-courtyard complex, built in the 55th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1790), featuring exquisitely carved wooden components. It was the residence of Zhao Shuli’s grandfather.

Zhao Shuli (1906–1970), originally named Zhao Shuli, was from Weichi Village, Qinshui County. He was a renowned modern novelist, born into a poor farming family. In 1937, he joined the Communist Party of China. He served as an executive member of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, a council member of the China Writers Association, chairman of the China Quyi Association, editorial board member of both Quyi and People's Literature magazines, a delegate to the 8th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and a representative to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd National People's Congresses.

Weichi Village: Originally named Lüyao, Weichi Village is said to have been the hiding place of Yu Chigong, a founding hero of the Tang Dynasty, for over ten years. Later generations renamed the village Weichi in his honor. It is the hometown of the famous writer Zhao Shuli, with fertile land and a pleasant climate. Located at the southeastern tip of Qinshui County, the Qin River flows past the east side of the village. It is 40 kilometers from Jincheng City, with the Duanrun First-Class Highway and the Hou Railway Line running along the village's edge, offering convenient transportation.
