The Chongqing Planning Exhibition Gallery is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a science education base.

The Chongqing Planning Exhibition Gallery is located in Chaotianmen Square, where the Yangtze River and the Jialing River converge. Its preparation began in 2003, and it officially opened on October 12, 2005. With a total construction area of over 60,000 square meters, including more than 30,000 square meters of exhibition space, it is one of the largest urban planning exhibition galleries in China.

Exhibition Content

The Chongqing Planning Exhibition Gallery employs advanced display concepts and a wide range of exhibition content to showcase Chongqing’s past, present, and future. It miniaturizes the city’s geography, ecology, and culture, offering rich content, exquisite design techniques, advanced display methods, high levels of intelligence, extensive public participation, comprehensive functional support, and a strong people-oriented philosophy. The gallery includes urban planning content for the main urban area as well as 40 districts, counties, and cities, along with 2 national-level development zones in Chongqing. It condenses the entire 82,400-square-kilometer area of Chongqing into the exhibition, featuring up to 1.1 million words of text alone. The gallery showcases a large number of physical models, with 30 models in total, including the main model—the largest of its kind in China. Covering an area of 892 square meters, the main model uses horizontal and vertical scales of 1:750 and 1:600, respectively, vividly illustrating the landscape and garden city form of 702 square kilometers between Zhongliang Mountain and Tongluo Mountain in central Chongqing by the year 2020.

Exhibition Effect

The gallery features a high level of technological sophistication. In addition to a central control system, it extensively utilizes cutting-edge display techniques, integrating modern visual effects such as sound, light, electricity, interactive displays, holographic imaging, and film. By combining fun, interactivity, and educational value, it achieves a world-class exhibition standard. It serves as one of Chongqing’s social and cultural facilities and an important window for promoting the city’s image.

1. Opening Hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM (ticket sales stop at 4:30 PM)

2. Ticket Price: 20 RMB per person. Groups of ten or more are eligible for discounted group rates (20% off).
